Chiang Khan was founded in the late-19th century when Lao villagers crossed the Mekong after the French colonised Laos. More migrants later arrived from Vietnam and China. Chiang Khan became a trading hub largely due to its location on the river.

09.00 Travel to Ban Chiang Archaeological Site.
Ban Chiang is an archaeological site in Nong Han District, Udon Thani Province, Thailand. It has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1992. Discovered in 1966, the site attracted interest due to its ancient, red pottery. Beginning in 2003, it gained international attention when the United States Department of Justice prosecuted smugglers and museums for trafficking in Ban Chiang antiquities.

14.00 Travel to Kunnaphat Salt Spa.
Adding value to salt today, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) takes a look at the folk wisdom of Pattana Salt Spa at Ban Dung Subdistrict, Ban Dung District, Udon Thani Province. During the year 2008 Mrs. Kunnaphat Watthanakul asked the research faculty from Khon Kaen University Doing salt experiment and mud in salt fields can be used as a mixture for people or not.
