Half day - Every Morning
If you are an aficionado of exceptionally fine and rare architecture, you should definitely join this tour. This impressive golden teakwood structure (the largest of its kind in the world) was originally King Rama V’s 81-room royal palace. Today, it is an impressive meticulously managed museum housing a fabulous collection of royal memorabilia, including some rare antiques, fine jewellery, furniture, paintings, porcelain, and some fascinating photography, the latter providing some delightful vignettes of the current royal family, and Thailand’s royal history. All of this is set against a backdrop of octagonal rooms, lattice walls and sweeping staircases, and it is not hard to imagine the original splendour and magnificence that must have prevailed during its period as a royal residence.
